About Our Society
We are a friendly, non-competitive, society for classical guitar players who enjoy making music together. Our meetings combine ensemble playing with ample opportunities for members to give short recitals to a friendly audience.
Repertoire
The music we play covers a wide range of styles and periods, much of it arranged specifically for guitar ensemble by our members.
Playing Standards
The society is designed to benefit players from about grade three onwards. The ability to sight-read is necessary to join in the ensemble pieces.
Affiliation
OXGS is a member of the Federation of Guitar Societies UK, who keep us updated on concerts, courses and concerns of the guitar world.
Event Hosting and Promotion
Would event organisers please note that we are a small society and are unable to host recitals or concerts by other societies or individuals. We do, however, promote local events on our 'News and Events' page.
